Who We Are
At Discovery Rider Training Center, our mission is to provide quality motorcycle rider training to people in all phases of their riding career.
Our team of RiderCoaches is passionate about motorcycling and sharing the fun of riding safely. Skilled in adult learning, group facilitation, and motor skills training, our RiderCoaches are among the best in the state.
As an award-winning sponsor of the California Motorcyclist Safety Program we provide classes designed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, the internationally recognized authority on rider training.
The Basic RiderCourseSM
The MSF Basic RiderCourse is designed for beginning riders and is a
good refresher course for returning riders looking to sharpen their basic
skills. Five hours of classroom instruction and ten hours of practical riding
exercises prepare you for operating a motorcycle safely on the street.
Motorcycles, helmets and gloves are provided for your use during the
course. Successful completion of the course may waive the riding skills test
at the California DMV.
In the classroom, you’ll learn about the different types of motorcycles,
layout and operation of the basic controls, and how to become a safer,
more responsible rider. Next, you’ll move to the riding range and your
RiderCoach (an experienced motorcyclist certified by the Motorcycle Safety
Foundation) will be your guide leading you through step by step exercises
that build your riding skills. After learning straight-line riding, stopping,
shifting, and turning, you’ll gradually progress to practical skills such as lane
changes and slow tight turns, cornering technique, and hazard avoidance
skills such as swerving and stopping quickly.
The course concludes with a knowledge test and a riding skill evaluation.
Once your RiderCoach hands you the course-completion card, you can be
confident knowing that you’ve gone the extra mile to develop your safe
